Retirement Planning
Most people have little idea how much money you need to save to provide a decent (not lavish) income for retirement. If you want to retire at 60, for every £10,000 of income you will need to build a fund of around £150,000. If you want to index-link your pension you will need around £250,000. (FSA comparison site - October 2007).
The State Pension isn’t there to fund anything more than subsistence. If you want a comfortable retirement you are going to have to save a sizeable amount of money. Clearly, the sooner you start saving, the less painful it will be.
